Maccapani's Fall 2026 showing served as an invitation to discover a distinctive environment. The label has established a new base at 26 Via Leopardi, designed to be more than a conventional store. It's a place where one might encounter curated vintage items or unique jewelry, alongside accessories from emerging independent brands. The unifying element is Margherita Maccapani Missoni's unique vision, as every piece in the space is an extension of her personal aesthetic and passion.
The designer encouraged guests to engage in "window gazing," as if observing her creative world from an external perspective. A collaboration with the nearby cafe has begun, aiming to nurture a sense of community among visitors. Notably, Maccapani Missoni herself features in the collection's visuals, and the individuals chosen to showcase the collection were not traditional models, but rather her family members and close acquaintances, reinforcing the personal touch of the brand.
The designer articulated her creative process: "Innovation always stems from a fundamental need. It's about me, and about all the confident women I am honored to dress and call friends." She recalled that upon launching Maccapani, the range of products was considerably wider, reflecting her background in developing comprehensive wardrobes. However, she quickly recognized that while people resonated with the brand's essence, they lacked clarity on its true message. In its second year, her approach shifted towards refining and distilling the brand's foundational elements. This deliberate focus led her to reassert Maccapani's defining aesthetic principles for the Fall 2026 season.
Her artistic direction continued to highlight luxurious, textured jersey jacquards – a now iconic element of the brand – utilized for capri pants, intricate lace-up mini cardigans, and sophisticated chemisier dresses. This season, she broadened her material exploration to include a wool-inspired jacquard, meticulously cut into stylish overshirts and artfully padded to create bomber jackets. The collection was further enriched by soft, intricately fashioned nets, two-tone layered knits, ethereal drop-stitch lurex, and meticulously structured grid patterns. This represented an intuitive and organic dive into the world of knitwear, deeply rooted in her heritage. A similar innovative approach was evident in the seamless nylon mesh pieces, which included stretchy, body-sculpting bodysuits, skirts, and dresses characterized by their distinctive tubular construction. For accessories, belts crafted from repurposed vintage garment pockets emerged as a standout, subtly hinting at a potential new direction for the brand's offerings in the future.
