In a continuing partnership that began in 2019, Gap and Harlem's Fashion Row (HFR) have launched a transformative denim collection for 2026. This year, the focus is on reinterpreting Gap's iconic denim pieces through the eyes of five standout designers: Daveed Baptiste of Daveed Baptiste, LaTouché of LaTouché, Waina Chancy of Atelier Ndigo, Igdaliah Pickering of IGDALYAH, and Nicole Benefield of Nicole Benefield Portfolio. Brandice Daniel, founder and CEO of HFR, highlighted the collaborative spirit, noting that the designers brought deeply personal stories to the collection, many having grown up with Gap's denim.
The collection, comprising 20 distinct pieces, features innovative design elements. Daveed Baptiste, for instance, integrated multiple indigo shades into a denim polo shirt and used intricate embroidery on a bomber jacket and jeans, evoking the depth and movement of the ocean. Similarly, Igdaliah Pickering drew inspiration from oceanic hues, opting for a palette of denim blues that captured the essence of the sea. LaTouché approached denim with an architectural mindset, re-engineering classic items with unexpected seams, curved lines, and exaggerated proportions to celebrate the body's natural movement. Waina Chancy infused her designs with colors reminiscent of her Haitian heritage, bringing joy and beauty to the fabrics. Nicole Benefield merged her signature strong shoulders and tapered pants with Gap's aesthetic, resulting in relaxed silhouettes, soft barrel legs, denim shank button details, and muted pastel color pops, creating a harmonious blend of two distinct design philosophies. The collection will be available for purchase starting February 13, 2026, at 12 p.m. EST, with prices ranging from $98 to $148.
