Seiko 5 Sports Field GMT Series Unveils Earthy Tones for 2026

In a significant update to its widely acclaimed 5 Sports series, watchmaker Seiko has introduced two fresh colorways for its Field GMT models, designated HDB001 and HDB002. These latest releases, featuring an olive green and a khaki beige dial, aim to enrich the collection's aesthetic appeal with nature-inspired hues.

The foundation of these new watches remains consistent with their predecessors, the SSK023 and SSK025. Each watch is housed in a compact yet sturdy 39.4mm stainless steel case, measuring 13.6mm in thickness and 47.9mm from lug to lug. The case exhibits a refined combination of brushed and polished surfaces, complemented by a fixed bezel showcasing a 24-hour scale with radial brushing. A curved Hardlex crystal protects the dial, and the watches boast a water resistance of 100 meters, affirming their suitability for various adventurous pursuits.

The distinguishing feature of the HDB001 and HDB002 lies in their newly designed dials. The HDB001 captivates with a deep olive green, while the HDB002 presents a subtle khaki beige, both offering a distinctive, adventure-oriented character. The dials maintain a textured, matte finish, adorned with raised luminous hour markers and an additional 13-24 hour scale for enhanced readability. A framed date window is positioned at 3 o'clock, and the signature 24-hour GMT hand, independently adjustable in one-hour increments, is rendered in a vibrant red tone. This "caller/office-style" GMT function provides convenient tracking of a second-time zone, a practical feature for travelers.

Powering these timepieces is the reliable in-house automatic calibre 4R34 movement, an evolution of the proven 4R36. This movement operates at a frequency of 3Hz and offers a power reserve of approximately 41 hours, ensuring consistent performance. Both models are secured to the wrist with a brushed stainless steel bracelet featuring a five-link design and a secure three-fold clasp.

The Seiko 5 Sports Field GMT Series HDB001 and HDB002 are now available as permanent additions to the collection, priced at EUR 470 or USD 450.

The expansion of the Seiko 5 Sports Field GMT series with these new earth-toned models is a commendable move. It underscores Seiko's commitment to offering accessible yet sophisticated timepieces that cater to diverse tastes and needs. The integration of practical features like the GMT function with robust construction and appealing aesthetics makes these watches a compelling choice for both seasoned watch enthusiasts and those new to the world of horology. It also highlights the brand's ability to innovate within its entry-level segment, providing excellent value without compromising on quality or style.
