Ressence is set to make a significant impression at WatchTime New York, which commences today, October 16th, and runs until October 18th. Over 40 horological brands and their visionary leaders will converge at Gotham Hall, showcasing the pinnacle of watchmaking artistry. Among the notable exhibits is the debut of Ressence's Type 10 DN (Dark Night), a limited-edition timepiece that exemplifies the Antwerp-based brand's innovative philosophy. Its deep blue, uniform design and revolutionary oil-filled display represent a harmonious blend of sophisticated engineering and minimalist aesthetics, ensuring a clear and intuitive time-telling experience.
The Type 10 DN boasts a 41.5mm case meticulously crafted from polished Grade 5 titanium, enhanced with a hard DLC coating. Its fluid lines seamlessly extend to an integrated rubber strap, while double-domed sapphire crystals on both sides reinforce its elegant, rounded silhouette. The consistent deep blue finish across the case, dial, and strap creates the impression of a singular, sculptural entity. This design ethos aligns with Ressence founder Benoît Mintiens's belief in the power of integration, where individual components coalesce into a more efficient and visually refined product. Weighing a mere 82 grams, the Type 10 DN is engineered for daily wear, offering exceptional comfort and legibility. Instead of traditional hands, the watch features Ressence’s patented ROCS display, which utilizes rotating discs to indicate time and a second time zone. The three-dimensional arrangement provides a remarkable sense of depth, with the oil-filled display bringing the indications closer to the sapphire crystal's surface, resulting in unparalleled clarity. The minute track is a masterpiece of detail, comprising 24 titanium segments with alternating sandblasted and linearly brushed surfaces, each subtly reflecting light at different angles to create a dynamic visual effect.
Beneath its refined exterior, the Type 10 DN houses an intricate mechanical system, comprising 538 components. This includes the in-house-designed automatic Caliber RW-04 and the ROCS 10 module. The movement provides a substantial 60-hour power reserve, delivered by two barrels. A magnetic transmission system seamlessly links the air-filled mechanism to the oil-immersed display. A temperature indicator further enhances its functionality by monitoring the oil’s optimal operating range. The watch, limited to 100 pieces, will be available starting November 2026, priced at CHF 45,000 (excluding taxes), approximately $48,260 USD. The sapphire case back offers a glimpse into the sophisticated RW-04 movement, while the Ressence Compression Lock System ensures water resistance up to 5 ATM. This timepiece masterfully combines intricate mechanics with a sleek, unified design, demonstrating that true complexity can achieve ultimate simplicity in user experience. It serves as a testament to the brand's pioneering spirit, pushing the boundaries of traditional watchmaking while maintaining an unwavering focus on clarity and ergonomic design.
