Oris ProPilot Calibre 111: A Contemporary Reimagining of a Classic Aviator Watch

Oct 16, 2026, 3:02 PM

Oris has recently updated its distinguished ProPilot Calibre 111, bringing it in line with the contemporary design language seen in the revamped ProPilot Date collection. This particular model, which debuted in the mid-2010s, is set apart by its proprietary manually wound movement, a hallmark of Horlstein's craftsmanship. The latest iteration is not merely an aesthetic refresh but a strategic alignment of its design elements with the brand's most current developments, reinforcing its unique position within the collection.

The updated ProPilot Calibre 111 showcases a 43mm stainless steel casing, a slight reduction from its predecessor, maintaining a thickness of 13.2mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 51mm. Its distinctive fluted bezel, reminiscent of aircraft turbines, remains a signature feature, complemented by an enlarged screw-down crown. A domed sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating ensures optimal legibility, while a screwed stainless steel case back with a sapphire window proudly displays the intricate movement within. The timepiece maintains a robust water resistance of 100 meters. The dial now comes in sophisticated black or pine green, featuring a blend of finishes, including a vertically brushed central area contrasted with a more organic texture around the edges. This nuanced approach enhances the dial's visual depth without compromising its functional clarity. The Arabic numerals and luminous hands provide excellent readability, with central hours and minutes, a small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock, and a date display relocated to 6 o'clock. The prominent non-linear power reserve indicator at 3 o'clock is thoughtfully designed to make the remaining power reserve easily discernible, particularly in its final days.

At the heart of the new model is the Oris Calibre 111, a manually wound movement introduced in 2015, building upon the Calibre 110. Developed through a decade-long collaboration with the École Technique Le Locle, this movement marked Oris's re-entry into in-house movement production after 35 years. It boasts an impressive 10-day power reserve, thanks to an exceptionally long mainspring, and features a non-linear power reserve indicator for precise monitoring. The Calibre 111 was engineered to enhance the precision and stability of its predecessor, with its 1.8-meter mainspring ensuring a consistent power supply before automatically cutting off when torque diminishes. The refreshed ProPilot Calibre 111 is available with either a stainless steel bracelet, secured by Oris's LIFT folding clasp, or a rich dark brown Cordovan leather strap that includes a seamless-fit adjustment system. The watch is priced at CHF 6,100 on the bracelet and CHF 5,900 with the leather strap, with an extended five-year warranty offered upon registration with MyOris.

The reimagined Oris ProPilot Calibre 111 exemplifies the brand's unwavering dedication to innovation, precision, and elegant design. By integrating modern aesthetic refinements with its renowned in-house movement, Oris delivers a timepiece that not only honors its aviation heritage but also sets a new standard for functional elegance. This watch is a testament to the pursuit of excellence, offering enthusiasts a sophisticated and reliable instrument for every adventure, embodying the spirit of aspiration and meticulous craftsmanship.
